80`s 745i turbo race series

anyone got any info on a 1 make series for 80`s 745i turbos ..supposedly 400bhp? this thing got a huge great kkk turbocharger on it lol :P.pics info anything appreciated.

They were South African editions, and they werent 400 hp from the factory. I believe they came with 255 and they are very rare thats for sure. I saw one in a parking structure in Pasadena once. They had the M30 3.3L enfine with a turbo on it. I dont know anything really about them having a race series, but that would be awesome pics. I hope I have helped.

Damn I'm slow. Never saw this. Anyway, I've already 'informed' Mariano of the different cars he was talking about. But for you....

There were two differnt 745i cars produced, both built on the e23 7 Series chassis. One was the 'regular version', with the SOHC Big Six based on the M30 with a turbo on the side. It had enough modification to it that BMW used a different engine code. There was an early version (L Jet) was 3.3L and called the M102. The later version (Motronic) was 3.5L and called the M106. These both made 255hp stock, but some minor tuning (new chip in M106 and waste gate mods on both) yielded 400hp with everything else being stock (including the turbo). Bigger turbos would obviously yield more hp.

The other version that was sold ONLY in South Africa was powered by the M88 motor from the early M5 (and based on the M1's motor). It is very rare and not really seen much outside of SA. Home grown BMW of SA model, like a lot of other nice BMW's from that time period.

ive been trying to find a 745i even if wrecked to use as parts for my 79 733i
