'02 745 question

A friend of mine wants to buy a '02 745 and he wanted to know if there's any common problems electric, tranny, water pump... He's expecting to purchase one in the next 3 months or so.

Also I was curios is there any hooked up 745s running around??

as said in the above post there are alot of electrical problems. Extended warranty or a CPO would make for a good buy.

All issues should have been taken care of or will be taken care of under warranty. I wouldn't be concerned about it.

Mechanically, they're sound. But they're constantly in the shop for programming updates and such. Like it was said above, extended warranty is not a bad idea.

I know someone who had one with I-drive, got his money back after a year thanks to the lemon law.
He said it was in the shop like 17 times, and almost two months total!

for every yr after the sale of the car it will need to be i nthe shop for that amount of hours for programing updates, 1st yr 1hr programing, 2nd yr 2hrs 3rdyr 3hrs and so on and so on

that's one of my advice that i go by and hope you listen to this, otherwise you will end up spending hella time going back & forth the dealer's service dept.

I sold mine 745i after half a year and 100 trips to bmw service, mine was one of the first cars in Toronto.... Funny thing some of 2002 are just fine some are really bad, its a Russian rulet (spl?).

I've chenged sparks, tranny, automatic Boot closer has been broken twice, I-drive froze few times, speakers problem, ummmm i dont remember everything now... But it was really bad expirience for a 120k (cdn) car.....

Would i buy another one? Defenetly yes.

But for now i'm planning to buy CLK and KLeemanize it with 500hp....
