Im suprised with the 7 series power I went to pick up my sister from a (HS) school event, and my mom let me take her all stock '95 740il. It's an auto, and a light rain had just started (not one of thoes "first rains," where all the road grime/oil/gas mixes with the water and gets really slippery).
Anyway, I usually drive it in sport mode, and when I gave it just a little gas around a corner just to see if I could slide a lil' and WIZZZZ!. The tires slip out and my tail end ends up facing the way i was going in a second. It scared the s*** out of me, because i was not expecting it to act like that. Luckly I didn't hit anything, and no cars were around. And any other time after that, just a little bit of gas would cause it to slip out. I don't know if it's the tires or what.
Just an evening adventure I thought I'd share with you all. And yes, i know it was stupid to do that in the rain, but now I know better. Plus the only car I have ever had is FWD, and a POS. By the way, what year did they start putting traction control in BMW's (7ser)?
Oh, and about ABS. Just to test it out tonite, under hard braking, I could feel it a lot in the brake pedal, like a hard vibration (the locking and slipping of the tires), and a almost clunking-like sound accompanying it. Is this normal?
