Quadzilla you seem to be on top of things. Whats the final gear on the five speed? Is it 1:1 or higher? I am old vintage american muscle type but I cannot do the gas anymore on those big block oldsmobiles I love so much. Always loved Bimmers but could never afford em. But rest assured that there will be another E24 owner in the near future. I love big coupes man. 4 doors SUCK ASS. (Dont judge me that I drive an 89 Camry right now. My previous car was a 1966 Toronado. 488 cubes baby!!) ANyhow I like what you talk. Definately a tweaker. I myself am a numbers guy. The engineer side of me I guess. My big question is longevity issues. How is the E24 driveline. Is it good for 100HP/Liter? I like speed but it has to be reliable. And handling is important to. I am from the mountains and want to shred. Is there a limited slip available? I am definatley down for the 3.91 rear you were talking about. We dont live on the Autobahn but no laws against the 0-60 right.

Well its good to see there some 6ers out there. Bigcoupe.com is a forum dedicated to the real 6 series(1975-1989). I have a 1988 M6, its my daily for now. Its fully stripped no heater, no A/C, no radio, and im gona be building a roll cage for it when i get some time. Mods have only just begun and include Dinan chip, custom intake, H&R springs, urethane bushings, custom short throw shifter, custom front strut bar, and adjustable front sway bar end links. Sorry bout the bad quality pics but here is the link ImageShack Gallery. -Raffi

Great advice Francis. I'm on my second 6 now and tried not to go Gonzo on the mods, a.k.a. the pocket book. The best things I've found to date are using the Pagid pads. They are a very hard material and the first time you try to brake might be a little scary until some heat is built up but they perform great after that and I never experienced any squeeling or brake fade. Next I converted the exhaust to a 2" system using, what we call in old school lingo, a cherry bomb or bullet style muffler. First I tried one just at the back but it turned out to be too loud so I put another one at the converter location, the sound and performance gain was amazing. I know it sounds strange to configure a system this way but it works great. To tell you the truth, any mods to the exhaust system works wonders for any car and it's great bang for your buck. After that a larger set of rims and tires always is an improvement. Remembering that I didn't want to go too crazy I got a set of 15" Borbet direct fit rims and put a set of 215 60 15 tires on. Now they look and handle way better than the originals but there's still too much sidewall flex for my taste so 16's would have been even better and I still wouldn't need to lower the car. Performance wires and plugs are always good as well. The best plugs on the market, in my opinion, are the NGK Iridium. I've found that these plugs run alot cleaner and produce a significant power gain. They are expensive but worth every dime. Last but not least, buy a car with the 5 speed. I know this isn't a mod but if you have to pay a little more to get one, man it's worth every penny. The "WOW" factor is amazing between a automatic and a standard. I've laid a 2 foot patch going into second and held it up to 50 miles per hour before shifting into 3rd and all this without even comming close to red line. Now that's a blast. Just a side note, if anyone has issues with thier power window motors seizing up, they can be rebuilt by anybody at home. Drop me a line and I'll go through the procedure with you or if I find a technical forum on this site I'll post it. Cheers Last edited by CSi : 08-23-2009 at 06:47 AM.
