| Not that it really means anything, but I think it's fuckin' ugly!! I think BMW has totally lost it as far as looks go. Dare I really say it?? "They are starting to look like RICERS!!!" Have a nice day!!

| M6 and M5 seen at laguna seca I had the chance to sit in the new M6 and M5 a few weeks ago. Both cars look amazing in person. Just as most BMWs do, pictures due the cars no justice. I have many pictures and videos of the cars if anyone would like to see them. The M6 is loud out of the box. I thought the M5 looked better though. Pretty much just picture the E39 M5 styling in a E63 and E60. Later Brian. |

| E46's, E30's, E24's, E28's, E34's, E38's, E32's, E9's, and 2002's all looked good in pics AND even better in person. That "looks better in person" bullshit doesnt fly with me. Past bimmers didnt need that sort of justification. Its just us enthusiasts trying hard to like it cuz were so loyal and we hurt at the fact that we can have any bad or negative feelings towards our beloved marque. Im not at all speaking of the technology and engineering that went into these cars, mind you. Just the exterior styling. All my opinion, though. ![]()

The 1 series is growing on me slowly, saw a black one the other day, it looked alright to me, not gorgeous but alright, when they first came out I thought it was horrible. Was following a new 5er home from work today, looked OK in black, again not great but OK. Don't like the new 6er at all, the front is OK, but from the C Pilllar back ...But as always YMMV, Iain.

| I feel exactly the same way, I wont buy any bmw past the year 2004, they're losing their look, beginning to look more and more like a differnent car, that I dont like. Mind you didnt the designer have death threats when they realesed the e65 and e66 (7series) Why is it these days every bmw that we dont like looks like its been thrown in a wind tunnel? |

Oh Im so sorry, dude. E31's as well. Sleek, executive, bahn blaster....what BMW used to represent. Subtle, understated elegance and power beneath. Now its all "LOOK AT ME!!!" "BUY MY NEW ATTENTION GRABBING IMAGE-SUSTAINING LOOK FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO NEED PEOPLE TO KNOW YOU DRIVE A BMW!" These new designs make the E30 ///M3 look STALE and dull, lol. And that was the cry-out-loud outrageous one of the bunch.

| Do you ever wonder if folks from BMW watch forums such as this? I'll bet they do, it's more of a true outlook on what they are doing. But then again if they sell a shit load of butt ugly cars, who cares??? Right??? WRONG!!! It will come back to bite them. Maybe it's just an old guy that wants to drive not be driven. The feel of a raw, crude vehicle, just me and the open road. Is that too much to ask?? Why does everyone have to ruin what started out to be a good sports car (Corvette, T-bird, 240z, etc). We could throw every model of BMW into this one. I will stay with the older ones as long as I can. I want to drive.

Here here. Even though yes, in the long term, this philosophy will backfire, IMO. They are losing the people who bought the BMW at first, then developed a loyalty to keep coming again due to what they (BMW) are/was about, as happened in the 80's when people up-and-coming bought E30s and then when they really started making money, in middle age, kept coming back to BMW for more of their cars throughout the 90's. Your average buyer nowadays doesnt know how to change their own oil or know WHERE the oil filter is on their car. Id say 75-80% of them automatic if not more. Its actually tougher to get a stick in this country now. The dealers want to stick you with any of the countless automatics on the lot, and not put in the effort to order your car in stick. Now they are harvesting a crop of people who just want the car for its "look at me" attitude and the "I have a BMW" mindset. As soon as someone else has a more far out design or more over-engineered useless gadgetry like nose-wipers, or crotch massagers or whatever other abomination these people develop, theyll go right on to the next marque. All this shit just takes away from the driving dynamics and feel of the car, not to mention adds size AND weight to the cars. An E90 is probably bigger than the first 7 series, and definitely the E12 5er. Active steering, DSC, ASC, heated electric memory seats ( I understand this cuz BMW DOES need to keep up in the "luxury" dept.), rain sensing wipers ( I saw NOTHING wrong with how it was....3 simple settings), for gods sake PARK DISTANCE CONTROL!?! Each time I talk about this, my posts start off calm and then I just get pissed. Just make ONE car without all this frivelous shit and make one with bare bones, raw driving pleasure and price it around 20-25K (easy since we wont have all that heavy computerized shit on it), and offer it, WATCH how people buy it. I kinda see that with the 1 series a bit. They need an entry level BMW under 30K to hook the youngsters up-and-coming like the E30/E28s of the 80s did. All those dudes (my dad included) kept buying BMWs well into the 90's and due to their loyalty buy a lot of the stuff out now. OK, Getting off soapbox and wiping forehead.
