does anyone know if theres just a 633 or are they all 633csi's? i thoguht there was just a 633 by itself and the csi had a larger capacity engine.

I don't think there was a 633, just a 633csi.

Go to the online ETK ( http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do ) put in the last 7 digits of the VIN into the box at the top, press the button and it'll tell you exactly what you have

The way it goes is like this; 6(body style/ model), 33(displacement/3.3liters). c(coupe),s(sport),i(injected). At least, I think that's correct. Example: 635csi: 6series 3.5liter,coupe,sport,injected. If anyone knows different, I would like to know.
All 6'ers were csi's.

They are all csi's because every bmw, uses those codes the identify them.

No, not all 6'ers were CS(i)s. There was a european 630CS that was carburated. If I remember right it had what appeared to be a 4 barrel carb that look suspiciously like a Quadrajet. Do a Google search and you'll find one. The other oddball 6'er was a 628CSi (Euro only also). You are correct in saying that all 633s were CSis though. I've owned two CS's, a Euro 635CSi and a US 3.0CS.

I forgot about the 630. I didn't mention the 2800cs or the 3.0cs even though they are considered to be the grand daddy sharks.

I wasn't trying to include them because they weren't 6'ers. I just happened to own one of those too at one time.
