M6 Convertible & M6 CSL

"As BMW’s M6 grabs the limelight ahead of its September debut, Munich’s development specialists have turned to its closest relations – the super-desirable M6 Convertible and the out-and-out range-topper, the M6 CSL.

The cloth-topped M6 will arrive first; it’s a safe bet to appear at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and be on UK roads next summer. In its finished form, the car will wear the same 19in alloy wheels and aero kit as the coupé, and use the same V10 engine and seven-speed sequential gearbox.

However, the coupé’s signature carbonfibre roof will be replaced by multilayered folding canvas that stows electrically in 20sec, and at up to 20mph. Autocar’s sources suggest that the M6 Convertible could weigh 1900kg, compared with the coupé’s 1710kg. It’s likely to be tuned for a much less hardcore demeanor than the coupé, featuring slightly less aggressive suspension, gearbox and engine calibrations, and accelerating to 62mph in just over 5.0sec. Expect it cost around £85,000.

If your M6 has to be the fastest of the family, you’ll want to wait for the CSL, not due until 2007. The M-division is currently experimenting with a lightweight body and lower suspension set-up, and there are rumours of a 50bhp power boost for the car."

i don't think that they will build a M6 Conv, but i'm pretty sure that they'll release a CSL of it...

I can respect the engine put into the new m6 but I just and don't think I will ever like the body style. I've become accustomed to a more aggressive body profile for the ///m series. Even though that exhaust note is insane I still feel that the car overall should be aggresive not just what is under the hood ;/ but that's just me...

I think the chances of an M6 convertible are quite high, high power convertibles seem to become much more of a normal thing these days. the CSL will come that's for sure, with 50bhp more than the "stock" M6, wich makes is 557bhp strong. the "normal" M6 haS been regularly spotted @ the German ring.
I love this blue one

From that shot the ass resembles a porsche, interesting. I still have mixed feelings about the style of the car. I also will never be able to afford one for a few more decades.

I'm pretty sure they'll come out with a convertable and my boss is going to get the M6 as soon as the dealership gets one, he loves them and from the looks of that blue one, they look pretty damn nice to me

im doubting the production of the m6 csl. The regular version is basiclly a csl. They done a lot to make it lighter then the regular 6 series not to mention the m3 csl style roof

this site refers to the normal M6, but I have read many times that there will be a 50bhp stronger carbon fibre roof csl version

You have got to be kidding me. Convertible 6ers are way more marketable (profitable) than a CSL would be. Expect the 'vert for sure. With all the talk lately, sounds like the CSL is a foregone conclusion as well.

Dutch and German automagazines have spoken to many people who have higher up jobs at bmw, and the chance of having an M6csl produced is quite high, look at the M3 CSL , it's limited and they'll sell it anyway cause you'll sell anything that's exclusive, an M6CSl would be placed in the same row as the Vanquish for example, a front engine rear wheel drive sportscar

Dutch and German auto magazines, the ultimate say in car rumors

Just like the petrol diesels we've been waiting for the last 3 years.

I'm not saying there's not going to be a CSL. I'd say there's a GREAT chance of there being a CSL (because of spy pictures I've seen on the 'ring from people who live in Europe).

As a note: The M6 is already poised against the Vanquish in terms of performance and luxury. Even though marketing may say it's up against the DB9. I see the CSL going after bigger prey...
