I seriously hope it's going to be a naturally-aspirated engine. I personally like the M engines for their silky smoothness. Adding a turbo will completely destroy it.

i've heard a bit about the M2 as well. from what ive heard its actually going to be a really highly tuned 4 cylinder engine. the journo put it as "the spiritual successor to the e30 m3." don't know how much truth there is in that, but also keep in mind the bmw has registered 125i, 128i, and 130i as registered trademarks. does that give you some idea as to where they could be heading?

The 130i means there will be a 3.0-litre inline-six for the 1-Series. I hope the souped up version of that engine will be used with the M2.
