A lot has to do with the environment they are designed and tested on. Japan is not exactly a drivers dream but how about the Autobahn in Germany?
For the most part Honda has been engineering its cars for economy rather than performance, its not gonna be so easy for Honda to become a leader in performance cars overnight if ever.
