Ok, well why do you drive a BMW M3? Don't tell me it is just because of the performance that comes with it. You could have just gone out and buy yourself a WRX instead.... maintanance is cheaper, AWD for all weather, and way cheaper to mod. However, you didn't. I think the feeling of prestige from owning a BMW also plays a very big factor for you. Tell me, why do people buy $100+k Ferraris 360 Modenas when they can own a Corvette Z06 for $60k that performs better overall? People buy Ferraris because of their name and well-known craftsmenship+ engineering. You can tell people you drive a Chevy or a Ferrari.... which one would you choose? If you have the $$$, of course you would go with the Ferrari. Who wouldn't? I am not trying to slam you or anything but read the R&T article closely, they always seem to put price ahead of the real perfomance of the car. Yes I understand that that price is a big factor on buying a car. However, when it comes to being a Car Magazine reader, I want to know which car performance better without factoring in the price. You know I am not stupid.... if I can't afford the most expensive, I will go with the cheaper one. I don't need some car magazine writers telling me to buy a car thats cheaper when I can damn well afford the better and more expensive one.
I also wrote this a few post up and I think you didn't catch it earlier.

Yes, but after you spend $8k on it.... it would still look like ass . I knwo where you are coming from. $8k is a lot of money but I just don't think that it's right for R&T to compare cars based mostly on price. As a consumer, I would like to know which car is the best in that price category... I don't want to rank them from price... thats what they are doing when it comes to the 123 spots all the damn time. When I am ready to buy a car, I will factor in the price crap but I don't want to read about how much that car cost compared to another in that price range when all I want to know is which car performs the best. Just my 0.02
