If you are clever enough to reverse-engineer the system the way the aftermarket tool people do, and figure out just what kind of a signal it needs to reset the memory, you might be able to do it. I would not be surprised to learn that the aftermarket tool people occasionally trash a system though. Not a chance I want to take with my car.
