What you don't realize is that an 840 of any year was never offered in the US. All the OEM parts are still available and I have ordered everything but the transmission and clutch from Germany. When completed it will be OEM quality but better, and I say that because it won't have the standard self-adjusting clutch (SAC) nonsense, and the rearend is now limited slip whereas that also was never offered, only open drivelines. The Getrag S6S 420G transmission was used in the 540i's and M5's and is a direct bolt-on. My other 'tricks' include a couple very large pieces made in CF. (more on that as it develops) |
