| ok, in my opinion. if you have gas in your oil and oil on your plugs you probably need new rings.. if your burning oil that will destroy your o2 sensor witch will kill your emissions and fuel economy. the need to give it gas to start supports a loss of compression due to bad rings... not to rule out a blown head gasket. you IAC( idle air control) would not cuase this becuase as it gets clogged it would richen the mixture witch you do with the pedal to get it started anyways. as for a pcv systom im not sure if it was fedraly madated in 86 but may have been.. it being clogged may leave hydrocarbons from blowby in the crankcase witch could explain the gas smell on the dipstick or may be sucking up oil and running it back to the intake to foul your plugs.
if you are burning oil theres a very good chance that your catylist may need to be replaced. |
