| If everything else in the dash cluster is working, then it is not likely to be a fuse or a bad ground on the cluster.
Turn the key to the On position, then press and hold the odometer reset button until the self diagnostic starts. That will tell you if the problem is in the cluster or at the sending unit.
If the self diagnostic can move the needle, your problem is probably at the speed sensor or a frayed wire between the speed sensor and the cluster. The speed sensor is on the back of your differential. Check the two wire plug at the sensor to make sure that it is attached and not too corroded. The speed sensor can be easily unbolted from the differential cover and replaced. I would throw on a new one before paying someone else to try to diagnose the problem. The sensor is about 35 bucks on line. |
