If the standalone is direct fit, it plugs right in to your existing harnesses. If it isnt, you need to do some wiring. A EMS (AEM) runs around 1500-1900. I dont really know the price of a TEC3R to be honest. NO you should not attempt to tune it yourself. You can fuck up a motor with the quickness lol. Take it to a pro, and let them tune it on a dyno. You will pick up gobs of power, and it will be factory smooth. Yes, what a stand alone does, it replaces your ECU. It becomes your ECU. But you are programmer basically. Anything you want your ECU to do, you can make it. In addtion, you get data logging capabilities, which is a must.
