You need to push the clip down HARD, then simultaneously pull straight up, it takes a decent amount of pulling. Watch your nose, eyes, and face, sometimes when they come free they like hitting you. Some pedals come out easier than others, I have had to push on the clip with a screwdriver before to get enough leverage.
