Sounds like you may have fueled the vehicle with the key in the ignition, engine still on, or perhaps a simple little gas cap fault.

As long as the car is running the same as usual there isn't anything to be concerned about. Now if the car is running different since the light turned on then I would bring it immediately to your dealer.
