Darby White acting in his official capacity for Autohaus Bayern asked me to post the following message verbatim ....

"Dear All,

Greetings from rainy Oregon! First of all, finding your name on the internet is not nearly as amusing as seeing yourself on television. My name is Darby White and I’m the parts and service manager at Autohaus Bayern. I’ve been in the automotive industry for the last 15 years and have always striven for excellence. I have a wonderful team and facility that I’m very proud of. We also have wonderful clients. I regret that I am too busy with day-to-day operations to realize that Ronin’s E46 M3’s automotive improvement issues would have come to such a head.

Ronin’s car has an appointment at the A/B on Thursday, when we will systematically deal with his complaints starting with his overheating issue. A thermostat and clutch are on order from A/A, which will hopefully alleviate overheating. We will also be removing the A/C lining to help with cooling and refill the system with 100% distilled water. As we cannot test software from a 2002 SMG vehicle, as this is outdated software, the car will receive the most updated software, and then the DME will be sent on to A/A for the re-flashing of their latest software. It is my hope, perhaps foolishly, that these actions will help minimize engine surging and hunting.

I was disappointed to read that some people have negative things to say about shops in Oregon. Many fine professionals work in the automotive industry here in the Pacific Northwest.

I personally am a highly caffeinated ex-East Coaster, and I have often had to patiently wait for Ronin to complete his statements, but I have always found him to be an honorable man. I do have the benefit of interacting with him in person. Any past personal problems should be kept between those two parties and DO NOT BELONG ON THIS VENUE. I find that many issues with clients in my experiences have usually sprung from poor communication. I find that the internet is a mode of communication that is fraught with misunderstandings.

Furthermore, after we completed Ronin’s initial upgrades, I respect his need to seek other shop’s opinions on our install in order for him to verify our work. I bear no grudges toward him or the competition.

I look forward to repairing/driving Ronin’s car, as the daily brake job on Suzy Soccermom’s X5 can get pretty boring.

My hope is that minimally, we can give Ronin a car that doesn’t overheat so that he can enjoy driving it for more than ten minutes at a time, and in the best case, running perfectly so that he can drive it as hard as he likes. I intend to become the hero of this thread, and we have the Roninmobile slated to be back here in the shop next week. I look forward to having our techs sort out its various maladies so that we can all get back to the business of driving our German cars fast.

Happy Motoring,

Darby White"
End Quote.

Peace,

Ronin.
