| It really is great to work on them and race them too. Tom congratulations on your win at Laguna Seca! One of the chief mechanics here, Dave Deem, also works for Canaska Motorsports and they recently picked up an e36 ex-PTG M3. It is getting prepped for paint and such. Should be out here soon testing.
The cars are immensely fun to drive and it completely makes you understand of what the guys further up the ladder go through when driving open-wheel cars. These barely have 130hp/125tq (est) but weigh 1,000 pounds! It is incredible what they do with so little. We use Bridgestone Potenza so-3's and even though they are no racing slick...they work in perfect harmony with the setup of the car. I will shortly be receiving the Canadian A.S.N FIA-Approved license and the first official race of the season is June 17th.
I was enrolled in university but "motorsport mechanics" is not a major offered. I dropped out temporarily to pursue my passion. Ofcourse, college is very important and i will be heading back to it sometime in the next year or two...depends on what happens after Bridgestone.
