| I'd look for an e36 3 series with low mileage, an e46 would just cost too much with the miles you want and the price you're willing to pay, but wouldn't be out of the question. If you're really into spirited driving I'd get an M3, but 325is and 328is have enough power to put a smile on most peoples faces. I have a e30 325i and I love it! Im sure you'll be happy with whatever you decide to get.
