| mainly the common things that are replaced in a rebuild. piston wrings, maybe wrist pins. freeze plugs (not needed but its common to replace). maybe pistons depending on wear and condition and if you need to bore the block. cylinder walls. valves, valve seats, cam springs. timing chain, timing sprockets. bascially everything that is replaced or worked when a bmw engine is rebuilt those are all the things that you would be looking at but mainly i would keep an eye out for any new leaks, hoses, strange sounds. and once the miles get up there every couple months just for good measure do a compression test (about every 6 months) just from learning what i have over the past year i have been on this site that is what i would personally do if i had your car.
