I also think it depends on how frequently you want to detail your car. I have tried with various levels of success Zaino, Klasse, S100, etc (basically, around $500 worth of producs...

) ...
I've settled on 3M FI-II or fine cut for the prep (of course claybar first) -- then I use The S100 gloss polisher/enhancer ... and then S100 wax. I also sometimes use 3M polishing wax. S100 is a carnauba-based wax, thus, it will not last as long. However, in my eyes, it gives a deeper shine/gloss that pops more than a synthetic such as Klasse.
I would use a synthetic if you are lazy and like to do it once every six months or once a year.
You do not need to clay the car every time (once a year is fine IMO) ... but, you DO need to make sure you apply wax every 6-8 weeks using a carnauba based product. I would also recommend using a PC orbital. It makes a difference.
Waxes are like women -- there's plenty to choose from and not one of them will be the best per se ... really depends on what you want ...
1) use microfiber towels (80/20 mix is the best IMO) ($30.00 for around 10-12 towels)
2) good claybar ($15.00)
3) good PC orbital (coastal tools $119.00)
4) good orbital starter kit ($79.00)
5) S100 = $9.95 at harley store
6) FI-II = $9.95 at pep boys
7) S100 polish enhancer = $9.95 at harley store
