You COULD try swapping out to a different diff. But that would take away your highway cruising fuel economy. Also, since you redlined 4th, it WILL decrease your top speed. The other option is to get a 5 spd and a diff for that. Any of the ones from a M10 powered car ~should~ work, e21 or e30 mainly. But don't quote me on that.

The BMW people were probably at a lower altitude in cooler weather. This means they made more power due to denser intake air. That can make all the difference.
